About the Event
Overview
In this four-hour course, students will not only build and sharpen their fundamental handgun skills, but they will also gain a much better understanding of their pistol and how to safely operate their pistol is a safe and proficient manner.
Experience Requirements
Students MUST have an LTC or provide proof of exemption prior to class. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun.
Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
Course Outline
- Safe weapons handling drills
- Consistently and efficiently acquire sight alignment and obtain a proper sight picture.
- Apply sound marksmanship fundamentals.
- Perform various reloading techniques.
- Identify and clear malfunctions.
- Perform various shooting drills.
- Perform trigger manipulations exercises.
- Transition shooting.
- Perform single hand shooting, both dominant and non-dominant hands
- Perform malfunction clearance drills.
- Holster manipulation drills.
Equipment List
- Quality functional semi-automatic pistol with Iron Sights - Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
- 3 magazines minimum students may bring more if they wish.
- Magazine pouch that can hold two magazines.
- Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster (no inside the waist band holsters)
- Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
- Wrap around eye protection.
- Hearing protection
- Loading devices (optional)
Ammo
- Estimated round count 300 rounds pistol.
- Lead core ammunition only to be used.
- No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time.
- Most Factory ammunition will be acceptable.
- Pistol cleaning kit
